Disney+ has released the official full-length trailer and new artwork for its upcoming original series, A Thousand Blows. This gripping six-part drama, set in the gritty world of illegal boxing in 1880s Victorian London, stars Malachi Kirby, Erin Doherty, and Stephen Graham. The series will premiere on 21 February 2025, streaming on Disney+ in the UK, Ireland, and select countries, and on Hulu in the U.S.
The action-packed trailer transports viewers to the dangerous East End of London, where best friends Hezekiah Moscow (Malachi Kirby) and Alec Munroe (Francis Lovehall) arrive from Jamaica and are drawn into the ruthless world of bare-knuckle boxing. Hezekiah’s rise to fame catches the eye of Mary Carr (Erin Doherty), the infamous Queen of the Forty Elephants, who seeks to exploit his talent for her criminal empire. Meanwhile, Sugar Goodson (Stephen Graham), the self-proclaimed emperor of East End boxing, becomes determined to crush Hezekiah, whose ambitions to compete in the West End threaten his dominion. This sets the stage for an epic clash between old and new forces.
Created and written by acclaimed screenwriter Steven Knight, the series is brought to life with contributions from emerging writers Ameir Brown, Insook Chappell, Harlan Davies, and Yasmin Joseph. Directed and executive produced by Tinge Krishnan and Nick Murphy, alongside Ashley Walters and Coky Giedroyc, A Thousand Blows also stars and is executive produced by Stephen Graham.
Season One of A Thousand Blows (6×60’) promises a high-stakes drama filled with intense action and dynamic characters, delivering a vivid portrayal of a transformative era in London’s history.
