Jonny Lee Miller and Gugu Mbatha-Raw cast in new Sky TV thriller 'Inheritance'

Inheritance is coming to Sky TV and NOW in 2025.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Surface, Loki), Jonny Lee Miller (Covenant, The Crown), Sheldon Shepherd (Better Mus’ Come, Bob Marley: One Love), and Bel Powley (A Small Light, The Morning Show) lead the cast of Inheritance, a gripping new Sky Original thriller from acclaimed writer and actor Karla Crome (Am I Being Unreasonable, Carnival Row). This five-part limited series, set in Bristol, UK, and Jamaica, is directed by Storm Saulter (Better Mus’ Come, Sprinter) and produced by Snowed-In Productions in collaboration with Sky Studios.

The story follows Claudia (Mbatha-Raw), a driven young biracial lawyer, as she travels to Jamaica to dispute an inheritance claim by a mysterious local, Cudjoe East (Shepherd), against Oliver Connaught (Miller), a wealthy white aristocrat. Her quest takes a dark and personal twist when the contested estate unveils Hope Hill, the sinister plantation that has haunted Claudia’s dreams. As Claudia and Oliver dig deeper, they uncover a chilling link between the plantation’s dark colonial past and contemporary injustices. Inheritance blends shadowy intrigue with the vibrant pulse of the Caribbean, confronting the enduring scars of colonialism.

Joining the lead cast are Bel Powley as Charlotte, Nadean Rawlins (Bob Marley: One Love, Sprinter) as Mercy, Sean Gilder (Mary & George, Slow Horses) as Tom McKenzie, Olunike Adeliyi (The Fire Inside, Mike) as Patsy Dawkins, Richard Dillane (Wolf Hall, The Crown) as Eugene Desfrienes, Diveen Henry (The Day of the Jackal, Manhunt) as Flora, Jack Bandeira (Happy Valley, Black Mirror) as Kenneth Connaught, and Shantol Jackson (Sprinter, Yardie) as Sarah.

Writer and creator Karla Crome shared her excitement, saying, “I am humbled to collaborate with such an exceptional team in both the UK and Jamaica. Seeing Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jonny Lee Miller, Sheldon Shepherd, and Bel Powley breathe life into my characters under Storm Saulter’s evocative direction is an incredible privilege. I can’t wait to share this journey with audiences.”
