Apple TV+ announces 'Lucky' starring Anya Taylor-Joy

“Lucky” is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and created by Jonathan Tropper

Apple TV+ is set to expand its acclaimed lineup of original series with Lucky, a new limited drama starring Golden Globe and SAG Award winner, as well as Emmy nominee, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit, The Menu, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and the upcoming The Gorge and Sacrifice). Taylor-Joy, who will also serve as an executive producer, stars in this adaptation of Marissa Stapley’s New York Times bestselling novel and Reese’s Book Club pick.

In Lucky, Taylor-Joy portrays a young woman who turned her back on a life of crime but must confront her darker side one last time in a high-stakes effort to break free from her past.

“Reese’s Book Club began with the mission of fostering deeper connections — to stories, storytellers, and our community,” said Reese Witherspoon. “Bringing these powerful, female-driven stories to life on screen is incredibly fulfilling. We are thrilled to partner with Apple TV+ and the extraordinary Anya Taylor-Joy, alongside creator Jonathan Tropper and co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, to adapt Marissa Stapley’s incredible novel for audiences worldwide.”

Anya Taylor-Joy shared her excitement, stating, “Hello Sunshine has been exceptional in championing women’s voices, and I’m thrilled to join this incredible team with Jonathan, Cassie, and Apple TV+ to bring Lucky to life.”

The series is produced by Apple Studios and will be co-showrun, written, and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper (Your Friends & Neighbors, See, The Adam Project) through his Tropper Ink banner under an overall deal with Apple TV+, along with Cassie Pappas (Silo, Griselda). Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will executive produce for Hello Sunshine, part of Candle Media, while Taylor-Joy will produce under her LadyKiller banner.

Lucky continues the collaboration between Apple TV+ and Hello Sunshine, which has previously delivered hit series like The Morning Show (recently wrapping its fourth season), The Last Thing He Told Me (in production for season two), and Surface (returning for season two in 2025). Apple TV+ is also working with Taylor-Joy on the upcoming action-packed film The Gorge.
