Watch the trailer for James Norton’s new ITV1 drama, ‘Playing Nice’.
ITV has unveiled the official trailer and a series of fresh images for its intense new psychological thriller, Playing Nice. The limited series stars BAFTA nominees James Norton (Happy Valley, A Little Life) and Niamh Algar (Mary and George, The Virtues), alongside Olivier nominee James McArdle (Sexy Beast, The Mare of Easttown) and BIFA nominee Jessica Brown Findlay (The Flatshare, Downton Abbey). Consisting of four 60-minute episodes, the drama will premiere in January 2025 on ITV, ITVX, STV, and STV Player.
Produced by STUDIOCANAL and Rabbit Track Pictures, Playing Nice is adapted by writer Grace Ofori-Attah from JP Delaney’s best-selling thriller novel. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Cornwall, the story follows two couples whose lives are upended when they learn their toddlers were switched at birth in a hospital error. They face a harrowing decision: should they keep the children they’ve nurtured and loved or claim their biological offspring?
The series explores the emotional turmoil of Pete (James Norton) and Maddie (Niamh Algar) as they are thrust into the orbit of Miles (James McArdle) and Lucy (Jessica Brown Findlay). While the couples initially appear united in finding a solution, buried secrets and ulterior motives surface.
Trust between the families—and even within their own partnerships—begins to unravel. As Pete and Maddie confront their breaking point, they discover the lengths they are willing to go to protect their family.
