Paddy McGuinness to read Cbeebies Bedtime Story to celebrate Children in Need challenge

This Friday evening, Paddy McGuinness will be joining the beloved CBeebies Bedtime Story series, taking a seat in the iconic yellow chair to read The Stompysaurus by Rachel Bright and Chris Chatterton. This heartwarming story offers young viewers a comforting message about managing big emotions and dealing with frustration.

In the story, Stompysaurus wakes up from a happy dream, excited for the day, only to find that things quickly start to go wrong. As little setbacks pile up, his stomps and roars grow until they finally erupt! But can Stompysaurus learn to see things differently and turn his day around?

Paddy’s episode airs this week as he takes on BBC Radio 2’s Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge in support of BBC Children in Need. Starting on Monday, November 11, Paddy embarked on a 300-mile journey from Wrexham, Wales, cycling through Flintshire, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria, Dumfriesshire, and Lanarkshire, with plans to finish on Friday in Glasgow, where Zoe Ball will welcome him on The Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

Throughout the week, Paddy will check in with Radio 2 shows to share updates on his progress, with presenters, listeners, and special guests cheering him on as he navigates hills, towns, and November’s unpredictable weather—all on his bike!

Reflecting on his CBeebies appearance, Paddy said, “Reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story is such an honor. I hope kids enjoy cuddling up with their families to watch it. The Stompysaurus is a lovely story about finding calm when things feel overwhelming. For me, though, I’ll need to channel all my energy for this big cycling challenge!”

Catch Paddy’s CBeebies Bedtime Story at 6:50 pm on Friday, November 15, on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer. Plus, tune into his weekly Radio 2 show every Sunday from 11 am to 1 pm on Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.
