Crimer series Lynley is coming to BBC One and iPlayer

The BBC has secured Lynley, an upcoming modern adaptation of the captivating mystery crime series inspired by Elizabeth George’s best-selling novels, for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Leo Suter (Vikings: Valhalla) and Sofia Barclay (Ted Lasso) lead the cast as the unconventional detective pair DI Tommy Lynley and DS Barbara Havers in the series, currently being filmed in Ireland. They are joined by Daniel Mays (Magpie Murders), Niamh Walsh (The English Game), Michael Workeye (My Lady Jane), and Joshua Sher (Vera).

Tommy Lynley is a brilliant detective but an outsider within the force due to his aristocratic background. He is partnered with Barbara Havers, a sergeant with a rebellious streak and a working-class background. Despite their apparent differences, the unlikely pair of Lynley and Havers form a powerful partnership, united by their shared commitment to justice.

Daniel Mays portrays DCI Brian Nies, the sharp and suspicious Senior Detective at the Three Counties Major Incident Team, whose disdain for Lynley stems from both his own class insecurities and his realisation that he’s no longer the most intelligent person in the room.

Niamh Walsh plays Helen Clyde, an estate agent and Lynley’s former Oxford classmate, whose romance with Lynley is rekindled when their paths cross during a case. Michael Workeye appears as tech expert Tony Bekele, and Joshua Sher as forensic scientist Simon St. James.
