The Great British Bake Off 2024 Week One Theme confirmed
The Great British Bake Off is back on Tuesday 24 September at 8pm on Channel for when the theme will be Cake Week.
The nation’s favorite tent has once again been set up in the picturesque grounds of Welford Park. This season, Alison Hammond joins Noel Fielding as they welcome a fresh group of bakers, ready to tackle 30 brand-new, mouthwatering challenges crafted by the expert hands of judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
The series begins with the iconic Cake Week, offering the bakers their first opportunity to showcase their skills and make a lasting impression. In the Signature challenge, they are tasked with taking a humble loaf cake and transforming it into something truly extraordinary. Creativity and technique will be key as the bakers try to elevate this simple bake to new levels of flavor and design.
As the tension rises, the bakers will face their first Technical challenge. The iconic gingham cloth will be lifted to reveal the ingredients they must work with, but this time, there’s an unexpected twist that is sure to test their baking knowledge and ability to think on their feet.
For the Showstopper challenge, the bakers must push the boundaries of their imagination, crafting hyper-realistic illusion cakes that look like anything but a cake. From everyday objects to mind-bending creations, the goal is to trick the judges into questioning whether it’s real or a perfectly baked masterpiece. The pressure will be on to deliver the perfect blend of artistry and taste.
At the end of the episode, one baker will rise to the occasion and claim the coveted Star Baker title, while another will face the heartbreak of being the first to leave the tent. Who will impress Paul and Prue, and whose journey will come to an early end? The competition is officially underway!
