The band delivers three exclusive performances—including a cover of The Proclaimers—and joins Jo Whiley for a conversation about their journey from a university group to global superstars. Since the release of their breakthrough album Parachutes, Coldplay has become one of the most successful and influential acts of the 21st century. With over 100 million albums sold worldwide, they have continually pushed musical boundaries, evolving their sound with each new record. Their record-breaking Music of the Spheres world tour will conclude this summer with an unprecedented 10-night run at Wembley Stadium.

Returning for its fourth year, Radio 2’s Piano Room Month showcases globally renowned, award-winning artists performing three tracks—one new song, a signature hit, and an unexpected cover—all accompanied by piano and recorded at the iconic Maida Vale Studio 7.

Coldplay and Jo Whiley take over Vernon Kay’s show from 11.25am – Noon, and you can either listen live or later on demand via the BBC Sounds app.

Vernon says: “It’s been a privilege to feature some of the world’s best loved performers in the Piano Room across the past year. The line-up for this February is awe-inspiring and represents the huge range of music from across the decades that I love playing on my show every day, so please do join me for what will be a very special month of music.”

Teddy Swims, Gary Barlow, Celeste and Myles Smith are among are the artists performing in this year’s Piano Room Month.
