Review: Zac Efron's We Are Your Friends (dvd release).

A film about an EDM DJ was never going to win an Oscar nomination, but the critics largely missed the point when Zac Efron's We Are Your Friends hit the big screen last year.

In the film, aspiring DJ Cole (Zac Efron: Bad Neighbours) spends his days working in the Valley and his nights spinning tunes and dreaming of making it big in L.A.

As Cole tries to create banging tracks to get the crowds pumping, he meets James (Wes Bentley:The Hunger Games), a superstar DJ who could be the key to his success. Things get complicated when Cole starts lusting for James’ sexy girlfriend, Sophie (Emily Ratajkowski: Entourage, Gone Girl). With Cole’s forbidden relationship hotting up and his friendships in meltdown, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the DJ future he is destined for.

This is not The Revenant and nor does it want to be. This is a fun-filled, high energy movie, celebrating the clubbing culture and all that goes with it, in a stylish and entertaining film which will leave you buzzing.   A fantastic watch, especially with a bunch of mates.

Our verdict: 3.5/5.

WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS is out now on Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD.
